DOST-ICTO, IBPAP, TeamAsia launch Philippine IT-BPM Road Map 2012–2016

<p>&lpar;Manila&comma; Philippines&comma; May 20&comma; 2013&rpar; — The Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines &lpar;IBPAP&rpar; and its strategic communications arm TeamAsia&comma; in partnership with the Information and Communications Technology Office of the Department of Science and Technology &lpar;DOST-ICTO&rpar;&comma; formally launched the Philippine IT-BPM Road Map 2012–2016 today&period; The road map updates the strategic growth plan for the Philippine information technology and business process management &lpar;IT-BPM&rpar; industry since its Road Map 2016 was first published in 2010&period; The new study assesses the current state of the industry and affirms its potential to meet its targets of &dollar;25 billion in revenues and 1&period;3 million employees by 2016&period;<&excl;--more--><&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The Philippines is a global leader in voice and non-voice&comma; complex services&comma;” said DOST Secretary Mario Montejo&period; &OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;The government will continue to drive initiatives and support strategies to help accelerate the country’s leadership in the global IT-BPM industry&period; We will provide an enabling environment where the industry could continue to be competitive&period;”<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>The IT-BPM industry is considered the country’s fastest-growing business segment&period; In 2011&comma; it earned US&dollar;11 billion in revenues and employed about 638&comma;000 Filipinos&period; Through its updated road map&comma; IBPAP hopes to re-engage and re-focus its sectors toward faster&comma; more scalable growth&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>&OpenCurlyDoubleQuote;This industry road map aims to increase the country’s share in outsourcing services sectors such as voice BPM&comma; healthcare information management&comma; finance and accounting and insurance&comma; human resources&comma; animation and game development&comma; IT&comma; engineering services&comma; and multilingual BPM&comma;” said Jomari Mercado&comma; IBPAP president and CEO&period; scale&comma; and maturity of services&period; If the industry achieves its 2016 targets&comma; it is forecasted to account for about 8 percent of the country’s GDP&comma;” said DOST-ICTO Executive Director Louis Casambre&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p>Gartner forecasts a 5&period;5 percent compound annual growth through 2016&period; However&comma; the Everest Group and Outsource2Philippines forecast that the Philippines will grow faster than the global market at 20 percent year-on-year&comma; at least in the mid-term&period; Over the last decade&comma; the growth of the Philippine industry IT-BPM industry has outpaced the global offshore services market&period;<&sol;p>&NewLine;<p><strong>About the Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines &lpar;IBPAP&rpar;<&sol;strong><br &sol;>&NewLine;The Information Technology and Business Process Association of the Philippines &lpar;IBPAP&rpar;
